Five principles should be followed to prevent and rescue gas poisoning

Carbon monoxide has toxic effects on the tissues and cells of the whole body, especially on the cerebral cortex. But if the treatment is timely, it can recover completely in a few days without any symptoms. Therefore, it is necessary to master the effective knowledge of self rescue and rescue to minimize the damage of carbon monoxide poisoning.

The main places prone to non occupational carbon monoxide poisoning are families, including rooms with coal stoves and charcoal fires, toilets or shower rooms with gas and gas water heaters, kitchens with gas and gas stoves, etc. In addition, garages, basements and air-conditioned cars with small oil and steam generators are also high-risk places for non occupational carbon monoxide poisoning.

In daily life, how to prevent gas poisoning?

The water heater or gas in the home should not be placed in the room of family activities, and the gas water heater should not be installed in a closed bathroom or a place with poor ventilation.

When purchasing gas and gas water heaters, it is necessary to select the water heaters with qualified quality produced by regular manufacturers; professional personnel must be invited to install them, and they can only be used after passing the inspection. Do not change the gas and gas pipeline facilities without permission.

When using the gas and gas water heater, it is necessary to maintain good ventilation, and the bath time should not be too long. After use, check whether the water heater is completely closed.

The pressure reducing valve and skin pipe of gas and gas water heater shall be inspected and repaired regularly. In case of damage, corrosion, air leakage and other problems, they shall be replaced in time.

When using gas and gas water heater at home, it is better to install carbon monoxide detector and conduct regular inspection and maintenance to ensure the normal operation of the detector.

When using gas in daily life, the room should always be well ventilated, especially in winter and rainy days; smell the gas before using the gas appliance to determine whether there is air leakage; when the automatic ignition gas appliance is not ignited continuously, it should wait for a moment to let the gas flow out before ignition.

In case of carbon monoxide poisoning, the following principles should be followed during rescue:

1. Rescuers should crawl into the scene;

2. Open the door and window for ventilation, quickly transfer the patient to a ventilated and warm place and lie on his / her back. Untie the collar and belt to facilitate his / her breathing smoothly;

3. For the comatose patients, their head can be tilted to one side, in order to prevent vomiting aspiration into the lungs leading to asphyxia;

4. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) should be carried out immediately if the heartbeat and respiration are weak or have stopped;

5. At the same time, call an ambulance and send the poisoned person to the hospital with hyperbaric oxygen chamber for rescue.

After the serious poisoning sobers up, must also accept the hyperbaric oxygen treatment in the hospital for a period of time, so as to avoid serious sequelae and brain dysfunction. The hospital will provide professional and effective treatment measures, such as hyperbaric oxygen, pure oxygen treatment.

In case of other poisoning cases, you should first leave the poisoning environment, avoid continuous contact with the poisoning source, and then discharge the poison from the body as much as possible. If the situation is serious, you must dial the emergency call in time and go to the hospital for targeted treatment and examination.
